Francisco “Cisco” Patrick Amador, 77, of Papaikou died March 15 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Pepeekeo, he was a retired cane truck driver for the former Hilo Coast Processing Co., U.S. Army veteran and member of the Onomea Rangers and Kalakoas softball leagues and Moi’s basketball team. Visitation 9-11 a.m. Wednesday at Dodo Mortuary Chapel in Hilo. Prayer service at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow. Casual attire. Survived by son, Wade (Robin) Amador of Mountain View; daughter, Melissa Amador of Pepeekeo; brothers, Richard (Kulani) Soares of San Diego and Clarence (Gloria) Amador of Hawaiian Paradise Park; sisters, Lorraine (Arsan) Mendonca of Hilo, Shirley (Ronald) Kobayashi of Hawaiian Paradise Park and Barbara (Lester) Ueda of Hilo; hanai sisters, Carolyn “Sista” (Joe) Won of Makakilo, Oahu, and Roberta “Buddy” Wong of Hilo; sister-in-law, Ruth (Leroy) Binyan of Hilo; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. Walter J. Azevedo, 89, of Hilo died March 25 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a retired manager for Big Island Honda, member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Young Men’s Institute (YMI) Francis Council, Rotary Club of South Hilo, Ancient Order of Foresters Court Mauna Kea No. 8854, and charter member of Portuguese Chamber of Commerce. Visitation 8:30-10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mass at 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park. Survived by wife, Christine S. Azevedo of Hilo; daughters, Virginia (Franklin) Veriato and Annette (Patrick Sr.) Aiona of Hilo, Valerie (Henry Sr.) Pacheco of Wailuku, Maui; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Gilbert Pedro Benevides, 83, of Hilo, died March 15 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Hilo, he was a retired carpenter for Captain Cook Investments. Services held. Survived by wife, Mildred Benevides of Hilo; daughter, Betty (Jerry) Crivello of Volcano; son, Gilbert (Donna) Benevides of Hilo; brothers, Raymond (Betty) Benevides of Hilo and Kenneth (Helen) Benevides of Pepeekeo; sisters, Lucille Abrams of California and Isabelle Johansen of Hilo; sister-in-law Rosemarie Ciaramitaro of Mainland; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Alva Shunji Ushiroda, 83, of Kealakekua died Feb. 26 in Holualoa. Born in Kealakekua, he was a retired salesperson for the former Hilo Motors, U.S. Army veteran and member of Bank Kumiai and Disabled American Veterans. Visitation 9:30-10 a.m. Saturday. April 6, at Central Kona Union Church in Kealakekua. Memorial service at 10 a.m. Casual attire; no flowers. Survived by wife, Lilly Ushiroda; daughters, Debbie (Ron) Kiaaina and Cindy Ushiroda; sisters, Thelma Ushiroda and Ruth (Albert) Kunitomo; two grandsons; nieces and nephews.
